Are there any upfront costs or fees?
No. We are paid on a contingency basis. This means our fees are a percentage of the additional money we collect for our clients.
I already use a variance program in my revenue cycle; why do I need you?
Our underpayment services consist of much more than simply running a variance program and looking for differences. We have decades of experience and a vast proprietary database that provides context and intelligence that cannot be duplicated in a hospital’s patient accounting system. With BLS, clients have the benefit of technology, expertise, and unsurpassed experience. This explains why we consistently outperform every other underpayment company in the business.
My internal team handles underpayments; can you still add value?
Yes. Even with an internal team handling underpayment recovery, we can still find missed opportunity. This is not about finding things your team missed, but rather leveraging the unique algorithms and databases we have developed to find additional opportunity hiding in a hospital’s revenue cycle. We generally work behind an internal hospital staff and process, and provide a safety net to ensure that complete reimbursement has been collected.
Additionally, we provide collective intelligence to help improve a hospital’s internal performance. We have very extensive resources that we apply to every phase of the claim process to capture fail points that cause claims to be denied or underpaid.
We have used other vendors in the past that were not successful. Can you achieve different results?
We have a unique approach to auditing claims for underpayments. We combine our robust, proprietary technology and our 20+ years of experience to ensure that our client has received maximum reimbursement. The result — BLS will out-collect the competition.
There is no money in my budget for any additional resources. How are you compensated?
We identify and collect additional revenue and are paid a percentage of additional revenue.
